A Bespoke Set of Menus for AMO
Nothing short of perfection was created for Michelin Star restaurant Amo in Venice. Commissioned by a distinguished design agency for AMO, these invitations had to be as exquisite and unforgettable as the restaurant itself. The Client
AMO, a Michelin-starred luxury restaurant located in the heart of Venice, collaborated with a renowned design agency to enhance their dining experience through exquisite printed menus. We were given the opportunity to make these into a reality.
The Brief
The design agency turned to us to produce a set of bespoke menus that reflected the restaurant's unique branding. These menus needed to be flawless and produced to the highest quality. Having an impressive roster of invitations, packaging and illustration designs, we gladly took on the challenge.
The Process
To make the images as clear as possible, we utilised indigo digital printing on a card combined with lithographic full-colour printing. This advanced printing method is particularly effective for high-quality photography, ensuring each image is vibrant and clear. This gave the faces on each menu a level of detail and clarity, ensuring they appeared as realistic as possible.
Layered over the images, we applied satin gold hot foil blocking. This technique involves applying downward pressure to push the foil into the card. The result is a sharp effect where the faces and images appear raised, creating a striking contrast with the gold foil. This debossed effect adds a layer of depth and texture, ensuring the menus are not only beautiful but also tactilely engaging.
The finishing touch involved sewing the spines with gold cotton using Singer sewing machines. This added a handcrafted element to the piece as well as concluding the piece with a touch of luxury.
The Result
The final set of bespoke menus perfectly captured the luxurious essence of AMO. Each menu was a testament to Downey's commitment to quality and design excellence, serving as a memorable addition to the dining experience at the Michelin-starred restaurant.
