Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Event Invitation
Representing endless infinity in one glance, and the number 8 in another, this intoxicating pattern is sure to draw you in. Red is synonymous with the iconic Elizabeth Arden brand, and this invitation to their special event sees a gorgeous marrying of scarlet and oxblood in a playful 8 pattern. We had so much fun ideating this one - read on to see how we did it.
The Client
The iconic Elizabeth Arden started 100 years ago with the Red Door Spa on Fifth Avenue in NYC - since then it has become a pioneer in the beauty industry making luxury skincare and makeup for people all over the world.
The Brief
Elizabeth Arden asked us to make invitations for their ‘Eight Hour’ party - a night to celebrate their bestselling and iconic ‘Eight Hour face cream’. We were asked to design and create an event invitation that encapsulated this event, while utilising Elizabeth Arden’s iconic red.
The Process
We started at the drawing board and began ideating how we could design these special invitations. During this process, we tend to have conversations with the client, explore different ideas and give ourselves thinking time. Creativity is integral to our work and specifically with projects like this. Making something from the ground up always excites us, and ensures we keep top of our game.
For this invitation design, our only rule was that we had to use red, as this is Elizabeth Arden’s brand colour. So we decided to use all red - with two varying shades layered on top of each other. Red on red is often only seen in the festive season, or for Valentines, so we wanted to subvert this notion and use them together for this project. We used a mixture of bright scarlet combined with a sultry metallic oxblood to create this gorgeous colour pairing. Being bold and daring with our creations, from our presentation boxes, to our illustrations, is something we take pride in.
To create this bespoke invitation we used the scarlet red card as a base, which is the shade most synonymous with the Elizabeth Arden brand. On top of this we used sculpted embossing to create the repetitive 8 pattern with metallic foil blocking in oxblood. Just as the ‘Eight Hour cream’ has the unique wow factor, so does the invitation and if you look to the side, the 8 also mimics an infinity symbol; representing how the Elizabeth Arden brand truly stands the test of time.
The Result
The finished result was an invitation made bespoke for an incredible event - striking, beautiful and, most importantly, on brand - this invitation was a perfect fit.
