Annabel's First Glimpse Brochures

Peek through the decadent foliage into the new and refurbished Annabel’s in Mayfair. This brochure was the first glimpse given to members, teasing the renovated club within. This design features fine line illustration and gold foil detail, perfectly matching this iconic and glamorous establishment.

The Client

We made these bespoke brochures for our client Annabel’s, the iconic private members club situated in Mayfair. A name synonymous with elegance, Annabel’s has a select clientele and an esteemed reputation. 

The Brief

Annabel’s asked us to make 1,000 of these brochures to mark their reopening. They were to be sent out to their members to show them a ‘first glimpse’ inside the new and improved club. Our brief was simple; to create the finest quality brochures in three weeks. 

The Process

Often at Downey we are tasked with creating a project from the ground up. Our clients will let us have creative freedom, and we will ideate from there. Our invitations, presentation boxes  and illustrations  are just some examples. However, at other times, our clients will have an established idea which they want us to carry out in a specific time frame. This is where we go back to our origins - as luxury print specialists. 

The brochures for Annbel’s was one such project. They needed us to give their design the specialist touches that come from printing at the highest quality, and turn it around quickly. We were, of course, more than happy to take on the challenge.

For this bespoke brochure, we used gold foil in order to elevate the design and give it the glitz it deserved.  This metallic gold was flat printed as the logo, which beautifully contrasted with the matt lamination. We used gloss cardstock for this design in order to give it that beautiful hue. 

The standout of this brochure is the gorgeous illustration and watercolour. Both mediums are having somewhat of a renaissance, and we are finding they are more popular than ever and frequently requested. It’s not hard to see why - the intricate illustration detail and watercolour shades give a tonal quality to any piece work, breathing life and vivacity into a design. Printing this design, we made sure that no detail was lost. We used full colour print to ensure that the colours were illuminated. We finished the brochure with a brass wire in the spine to match the logo shade. 

The Result

The finished result was 1,000 brochures, each as elegant as the last. When we print, quality control is always applied. Larger prints like this one never slip on quality, and we personally make sure each print is perfectly finished. It’s our meticulous attention to detail as print specialists that makes our work one of a kind.
